Flu Season Prep

September 10, 2026

Hey Houston friends — flu season is around the corner, and September is a great time to get ahead of it.

CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for most people ages 6 months and older (when there’s no medical reason not to). Getting vaccinated in September or October helps your body build protection before flu activity usually picks up.

A few quick reminders:

  • Flu vaccination helps lower your chance of getting sick — and of needing hospital care if you do
  • Kids ages 6 months through 8 years may need 1 or 2 doses depending on their vaccine history (your clinician can sort that out)
  • Adults 65+ are often steered toward an enhanced flu vaccine when it’s available — but don’t delay if that option isn’t on hand today

Flu shots are available at Milepost Medical. Message us or stop by to get on the schedule — happy to help you and your family get ready for the season.

This is general education, not personal medical advice. If you have questions about what’s right for you or your child, talk with your primary care clinician.
